Reading this while drinking my "pina colada" breakfast smoothie after a beach walk! (No alcohol included). If this is helpful, as a fellow multipotentialite who works at high energy - and enjoys doing so - one of the big challenges I've found is managing the aftermath of those massive energy surges. Fabulous while on a roll, but then pooped afterwards.
The reality is I'm not going to take time off unless it's for something which has meaning and purpose to me. I'm simply not and that's the long and the short of it. Cue allotment. I will take time off if it's to go and work on my growing my cutting garden and lots of fruit and veggies. (And sitting in the sunshine reading my book with a cranberry and pumpkin muffin and coffee). So, now that the days are longer, I'm playing with stopping work at 3pm on Wednesday and then heading off to my allotment to dig and generally faff around. I've still done the best part of 6 hours work but then I get to do something which is purposeful and rejuvenating for me.
Because of the unreliable British weather, a fallback is needed. Cue Friday afternoons. The beauty of this is if I feel all caught up and the weather's nice, I can shut up shop at 3pm and go do something nice, even if I got to my allotment on Wednesday.
Hope this is helpful and looking forward to hearing how the experiment goes.
Some of us like both sprinting and running marathons, albeit not necessarily literally!😅 I've been thinking a lot about how to better manage my multipotentialite energy lately. And while I will make some adjustments - like allotment Wednesday afternoons - I've decided to accept that this is who I am and embrace it. I figure that acceptance is less energy sapping than resistance. Plus some of this laptop lifestyle stuff is a load of boll***ks!
Love it. I’m in the process of exploring lots of AI different tools…nothing of note to share yet but as I get more into it I will definitely write a post!
Lots of people are playing with it right now. The recent relevant post I came across was Paul Millerd: https://substack.com/@paulmillerd/p-157097331 - he also had some discussions on this in his chat.
Do you know any other creators that are playing with it to solve practical business problems and writing about it? I am looking for some inspiration :)
This is brilliantly simple Anna. I loved how you used the scientific method to walk through your experiment. I am so intrigued by what you find. I also want to see what I could find.
And I loved tuning into the little chat at the end, Anna. The brutal honesty of your relationship to work being unhealthy and boring is something I want to stay away from. I, too, am also trying to combat the notion of "no pain, no gain." What if there can be gains without violently charging my to-do list and losing sleep?
I'm a teacher in Thailand at a high school, and as rewarding as it is, I'm leaving this role to figure out how to create leverage in my life to free up more of my energy for my curiosity rather than trading time for money. I enjoyed how you mentioned with poise that you are in the long game and that your end game is to have time to write, build, and learn. We are in similar games :)
Next steps are massage school, seeing people I love, writing more, and some stillness at a meditation retreat. During this time, I want to start tinkering with a digital product 🤓
I look forward to hearing the results as they come in :)
I love this! Although I really enjoy doing Human Design readings, I'm working on building something with no marginal cost of replication as well... Work smarter not harder babyyyy
see this vid of steve jobs on joseph juran. first 3 minutes have the meat, the rest is extra (but good too) https://youtu.be/XbkMcvnNq3g?si=kNMRioMT2KkwBgCQ

I keep trying to remind myself it’s a marathon, not a sprint! I’m my own worst enemy sometimes 😅

Creating leverage is my theme for 2025 :) Let's exchange notes!
One important revelation I had this morning working with my coach is that "fixing everything two ways" is a leverage tool. First, fix the actual problem, second, fix the process that led to the problem. Original idea was coined by Joel Spolsky: https://www.joelonsoftware.com/2007/02/19/seven-steps-to-remarkable-customer-service/ (see #1)
Something that picked my interest - How do you use AI tools to automate various repeatable/mundane tasks?
Love it. I’m in the process of exploring lots of AI different tools…nothing of note to share yet but as I get more into it I will definitely write a post!

There is of course Peter Yang (https://substack.com/@petergyang/), but he is focused on Product and geeky stuff.
Do you know any other creators that are playing with it to solve practical business problems and writing about it? I am looking for some inspiration :)
Your post served as an inspiration for my leverage post this morning - let's keep the ball rolling and iterate in the ideas! https://polinarussell.substack.com/p/building-leverage-how-to-maximize

What a big move for you, congrats on taking that leap! What's to come once you wrap up teaching?
And I'll keep you posted with the results of my experiment as info and insights come back 🤓

Precisely! Look at us go 😇
Great post!
Thanks Jasmine ❤️
Beautiful work 😍

Taking notes 📝 as always! I love the way you breakdown things to make them more approachable.
Thanks lovely, I hope it’s spurred some new ideas for you!
I love this!! I’m excited to follow your journey because oh boy! I need to create more leverage.
I think we all do! Stay tuned 👀
