Well said, loved this piece! Sometimes the poison also holds the antidote.

It’s so interesting when your view of how someone got successful gets dashed with reality. We create a story in our heads that they must have done this or that, or sacrifice here and there. We then strive and measure ourselves against this imaginary yardstick of our making.

The juggling reminded me of the audiobook by Gary Keller “The ONE thing” he says about juggling, “Understanding the distinction between glass and rubber balls is the essence of effective time and energy management. By focusing our efforts on safeguarding the glass balls—the core elements of our well-being and purpose—we prioritize what truly matters. We resist the temptation to be consumed by the constant busyness of life and instead devote our attention to what is essential.” Basically that some balls can be dropped and it will bounce back, but some, like family relationships and our well being should always be prioritised.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment. I haven't read Gary Keller's book but I absolutely love the analogy here. I agree - some balls (like family or mental health) can't be dropped in the same way that work demands can.

Another great Article Anna and very relevant for me at the moment. I've always been someone who tried to keep all the balls in the air but recently I've looked at what I can remove/say no to, in order to do a better job at the most important things. Loved listening to you read it too!

Thanks SJ! I was stressed out about putting in the voice memo but I've had some good feedback so I'm going to push ahead with them haha.

Saying no is a constant muscle that needs to be flexed. Sometimes I think I've nailed it, and then an awesome opportunity comes my way so I say yes, then find that I am, yet again, drowning 😂

Hey Anna, I loved the audio this week! It felt like a great way to add inspiration and learning as I multi-tasked with my morning routine. Thanks so much, Emma

Ahh thanks for that feedback! I had a little bit of stage fright haha so glad you enjoyed it. Did you like the article voiceover? I’m also thinking about using voice notes to share the story behind the essay each week (in a more chit chat style), and potentially not doing a straight read through. I’d love your thoughts! X

Oh, I really loved it and there were no hints of stage fright!

I really enjoyed the voice over option as I was able to multitask with my morning chores, but still feel like I was being productive from a work perspective. Bonus stories would be great! I think bonus insights would equal bonus take-aways - I would take so many little words of wisdom away from your lady-brains podcast, and I feel like bonus insights could offer these as well.

I am also loving that it comes out on a Friday - it's the little bit of energy and inspiration I need to finish the week well.
