Introducing my 'stack.
Why me, why here, why now.
Hey there,
If you’re reading this you’ve probably stumbled across my work somewhere on the inter-web, or perhaps we’ve met in real life and I casually dropped into conversation that I’m a sub-stacker now. Nevertheless, welcome.
About five years ago I realised I loved to write. I didn’t have a singular AHA moment; it was an insight that developed over time, becoming stronger and louder the more I put pen to paper. Since then I’ve written a ton but most of my words have remained locked up in Notion, with a few pieces here and there published online.
Suffice to say that creating a newsletter is something I’ve been marinating on for a few years now, although I never actually bit the bullet because it didn’t felt like the timing was ‘right’ (it never and always is) and that annoying voice in my head wouldn’t shut up questioning whether I had anything valuable to say (we all do).
However after spending five weeks traipsing around Italy this Euro-summer, I felt my creative spark reignite for the first time in years. I realised that now is as good a time as any, and that if I was really going to try my best to live up to my writing potential, all that mattered was putting words on a page and those pages into the world.
So here we are.
Anna Mack’s Stack is a collection of my ideas and insights across personal growth, business, career, writing, creativity, relationships, money…and everything in between.
I believe that inspiration and lessons can be found everywhere. A line in a novel inspires you to think differently about a challenging situation in your life. A conversation overheard in the office gives you a fresh insight about how people work, and work well. Learning about something in one domain encourages you to think differently in another. This process helps us make sense of the world and also of ourselves.
My hope is that this newsletter will be a place for you to come and find inspo, and on occasion perhaps even learn something new.
To give you a little snapshot of what you can expect here are some essays I’ve been tinkering with:
Building anything is 10% idea, 80% execution, and 10% taste.
If things have to change, start with yourself.
In the kitchen of life, how were you cooked?
A cure for busy-ness addiction: the sabbath.
The irrational fear of becoming irrelevant.
How to get a pay rise (from someone who helped a friend double their salary overnight).
Accepting where you are is not leaving your potential on the table.
I wrote every day for 220 days. Here’s what I learned about being consistent.
The perks and pitfalls of being a generalist.
Persistence vs. quitting.
The difference in mindset between small business and startups.
How do normal people build supernormal networks?
You are what you read.
Have intention with your attention.
